Damien Talks Episode 4: Jim Brown of Sacramento Area Bike Advocates
This week Damien Talks to Jim Brown, executive director of Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, known locally as SABA.
SABA has an out-sized role as they not only have to advocate for safe and attractive bicycle conditions in Sacramento; but are also the most visible advocates to many a Caltrans engineer, Assemblymember or Sentator, or executive staff with the Governor’s office. In fact, our call last week occurred moments after the end of a bike ride with the head of Caltrans.
Also, Jim is like an encyclopedia on bike policy, so this broadcast is extra-fun.

Great interview–there really is some cool stuff going on in Sacramento.
As for Sac proper, I think Jim Brown got it spot-on in identifying the connectivity issue. A network is only as good as its weakest links and that is nowhere truer than in Sacramento.
I love visiting and biking through Sac and look forward to Sac getting closer to a more comprehensive, truly low-stress bike network. This is one upcoming piece of the puzzle:
