CAPTI sets a framework for planning transportation in a way that doesn't further destroy the environment, the economy, or the health of Californians, but some bristle at the idea of change.
Among the unintended consequences of minimum parking requirements are: more driving, more traffic, more delays for everyone including transit, longer distances between destinations, more fuel use and emissions, more difficulty and danger for people who are not in cars, and much higher housing costs.
While it was billed as an opportunity to "pause and consider the purpose of the project in the context of meeting the state's mobility needs," the hearing was more a disjointed airing of complaints.
