OCTA experimented with a discounted day pass for its buses to help increase ridership--rather, to counter rapidly decreasing ridership. But it “didn’t provide the movement of the needle that we were looking for in terms of increasing ridership” and will be ending soon.

Garden Grove Open Streets Event Returns for Third Year on April 1

Garden Grove's third Open Streets route on April 1 will have a mix of car-free streets, pop-up protected bike lanes, designated walking paths and a pop-up neighborhood greenway.

Orange County Transportation Authority is studying the feasibility of fixed transit modes along and adjacent to Harbor Boulevard. The transit project could traverse three cities - Garden Grove, Anaheim and Fullerton.

In the next couple months, construction will begin on the widening of the I-405 between State Route 73 and the I-605. OCTA approved a contract at its November Board of Directors meeting for $1.2 billion to add two toll lanes and improve to entrances, exits and bridges. The total project cost is around $1.9 billion.

California as a state ranks at number 17 for pedestrian risk, with 6,616 pedestrian deaths between 2005 and 2014. The California regions with the highest pedestrian fatality rates are Bakersfield, Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, Stockton-Lodi, Modesto, and Fresno.
