Last week, the administration announced the release of $296 million in grants to 105 California communities for a wide range of "Clean California" projects, including pedestrian and bike path improvements.
The infrastructure bill presents a great opportunity to make our towns and cities more walkable. But we must ensure that the money is used for building better pedestrian and bike infrastructure instead of wasted on highway expansion projects.
"All transportation projects funded or overseen by Caltrans will provide comfortable, convenient, and connected complete streets facilities for people walking, biking, and taking transit or passenger rail unless an exception is documented and approved."
